Microsoft Mail

Laura, a future co-worker of mine, mentioned the fun of the Microsoft snail mail system today.

It's even worse if you have evil doppelganger! (read: guy who has your name and got here first). Mike Sampson and I get each other's mail all the time. Usually I get his though since no one loves me /tear.

I know everyone probably already knows but where does BillG go to talk about this?

Channel9 of course!

Oh, another secret revealed

The super secret blog editor I mentioned earlier was in fact Microsoft Word 2007. This post was composed in that editor.

The News

So I posted a teaser entry about some news I had but never got back to reporting on what it was. I know, I'm a lame but what can I do? Things are picking up a bit at work.

Come July 10th I will no longer work for Visual Basic but rather the dev team behind Channel9, on10 and MicrosoftGadgets. I interviewed Monday, got my offer Wednesday (funny story about that below), and told my team Thursday. Yesterday I announced it to the C9 community and met with a lot of good will. This is going to be fun.

Oh yeah, I promised you a funny story (you've screwed with me for the last time parenthesis!). Tuesday night I was playing World of Warcraft on my gnome warlock Bixy. I just recently got 60, the game's max level, and I've been making lots of runs into dungeons to get gear so I can hopefully hook up with a raiding guild. So I'm running to Blackrock Mountain and I get a tell from a gnome warlock named Jixy. Turns out it's my new boss Adam Kinney also an avid WoW player. He soon informed me that they would be making an official offer and it would arrive in my email tomorrow. Quite possibly the best way to find out about my new job :)

Lessons of 7 AM

1. There are a lot of people on the road. I don't know if these people have heard but you can actually stay in bed after the sun comes up. Crazy I know.
2. None of them are going to Microsoft. I've seen more cars in the garage when I come in for Sunday D&D.
3. Since no one is coming to Micrsoft, we don't turn the lights on.

This is going to be a fun 10 weeks :)
