A Social Butterfly

Normally I spend about one night/day a weekend hanging with friends. Weekends are typically when Karen and I spend time recharging the batteries after a long week. Waking up and 5AM and three hour commutes tend to drain her energy fast and I guess I'm just lazy.

This weekend was different. Friday we held our own DPE Winter Informal. Me, Adam, Erik, and Rory hit the food court at Alderwood (like any cheap prom date) and then crashed at Adam's house to relax, play Xbox, and chat about Channel9's future. It was a lot of fun and we hope to hang outside of work more often.

On Saturday, Karen and I split up. She headed down to Tacoma to hang out with a friend from work (continuing Friday's theme). Things have been stressful for the two of them recently so they decided to get together and blow off some steam. I, on the other hand, came into work with one purpose: to kick some ass, Nerf style.

Recently I purchased a Nerf Longshot. It's been great fun around the office but it hadn't really been battle tested until this weekend. Me and three of my friends took over building 18 where Channel9 and 10 are made and began our own Nerf War. We played a round of deathmatch then some 2v2. After that we busted out Descent: Journeys in the Dark and some beer for a good old fashioned dungeon crawl.

Sunday was the Grammy Awards and Karen and I watched in style. We scored some tickets to the Pacific Northwest chapter of the recording academy. It was at the Triple Door which I hear is the venue of choice for all Microsoft events as well. We stayed till about 10:00 before heading home to get some sleep.

All of that and I still managed to get 40 with my shaman and buy my mount.
